Indeed it has been rather quiet! I've been busy settling in to my new job, with work times becoming more set in stone soon, yay! And, it's friday here! LOL! Woohoo for the weekend!

My friend, PLEASE never resort to self-deprecation when talking about your music!!!!! I admire and respect ALL that work to learn music, play instruments and be a part of the world of music in general! There is no such thing (to me) as an "uncool" musician! Further, you are young and will only progress and improve as the years go by and THAT is WAAAAAAAY cool!!!!! You have my sincere respect!
We play mostly covers (Rock and Roll!) As anyone that is in this business will tell you, doing covers is about the only way to get paid. Its nice to play your own music but there is very little demand for it in the real world. We do throw a few originals in and that is very satisfying. I love seeing the crowd's reaction to MY music! It's wonderful! However, we play about 95% covers (including some Priest!) and that keeps us working and getting a paycheck! There's a fine line between trying to stay "true to yourself" by pushing your own songs and actually getting money to play. There's really NO money in recording and selling CDs unless you have a Label that wants to sign you. It simply does not work, period. Once your few family and friends buy a CD, it all goes away and BELIEVE ME, recording is expensive!!!!!!!
We will never get rich but we work regularly and get to play music. We also get to write and play a few of our own songs and that is great. It is a lot of work but it truly is a passion. NEVER stop playing and learning, Kia! It is worth it. Someday you will realize that. It is NEVER too late. Oh, I've been meaning to ask- do you do all original material or are there any covers thrown in? If so, what?
Well, I have to go- second rehearsal of today (this one for a choral concert on Saturday). Hopefully a touch more optimistic than my Early Music Ensemble rehearsal this morning, where we received the sad news that our cellist is leaving us to go study in Ireland- she will be much missed .
Now I've put that, I've realised what an uncool musician I am next to you guys. Still, being a music student is all about being a geek- we know it and we don't care!
See you all around. Will be spending the night in the union bar- or at least until we find out who will be in charge of the country tomorrow...

Hopefully they release a new album Hellrider. I reckon whilst they're on a break Glenn and KK should be writing some killer guitar riffs, and while Rob is in the zone touring with Halford he should be writing some kick ass lyrics, bring them together and there ya go, a heavy metal monster from the Priest!!!
I just picked up my brand new Zildjian ZBT 18" crash. So cool. Time to practice more Priest songs! [Show/Hide Quoted Message](Quoting Message by hellrider 31038 from Tuesday, May 04, 2010 7:46:00 PM)

It was everything we could have ever wanted and more. A BEAUTIFUL setting with the River running next to us, bikinis as predicted, a huge crowd and a fantastic show (if I do say so myself). We were complimented over and over by people!
I gave ALL I had and I am seriously as physically drained as I have ever been!! Got back to our hotel room around 2 or 3 this morning and could not sleep. Got out of bed at 9, checked out and came home. I have some GREAT pics but they will have to wait as I am in no mood to even hold this laptop any longer!! Going to go watch some baseball and likely order some Chinese before calling it a day! A VERY EARLY day!
I know I have said this before but I find that I am ONCE AGAIN in awe of the mighty Priest and other acts like them! I have no idea how they do it night after night! I know the adrenaline flows like crazy while we play but the next day is absolutely debilitating. To be their age and play over and over, night after night, week after week is nothing short of remarkable. And to do so with such power and style. Jeeeeeez!!!!!!! There's more than one reason that they are THE Metal Gods!!! Remarkable , indeed.
Bye for now!

If you only knew what "Chef voice" sounds like in my mind. The Chef I worked for sounded like a theather actor destined for the british stage. I can say that I liked him. But the funny thing about "new waiters" is you could not feel perfectly at home until Chef John made you cry. lol.

There's nothing in my background, I swear to God, and I know it: I've analyzed my own background and I know there's no doubt in my mind that there's nothing in my background, no one factor or collection of factors that would explain or would otherwise lead one to believe that I was capable of murderHmm..."Its not ME".."You people don't GET me"...."Its YOUR problem".... Sound familiar, Max??? How about YOU, Mr. Evans???
Before our dear Maxie goes about using "history" as an example of why we should praise another TROLL in our world, perhaps he should take some time to REALLY understand it. Tsk - I am perfectly controlable. Chocolate and strawberry juice will get you everyhwhere.
HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!! Strat, I know better than to even TRY to control YOU!!! HAHAHAHAHAHHAAA!!!!!
You have not really missed anything, man. Just ANOTHER loser coming here to cause trouble and be an idiot for a cheap laugh and the one or two morons that always seem to join him in an effort to encourage his behavior. ALL been done before.

I find it laughable that Max would create this thread under the guise of "supporting" Mr. Evans. That is such a crock that it is literally comical. Max supports trouble and discord, period. He has found a vehicle in which to propagate his stupidity and has grabbed it with both hands. Much like his alter-ego FMH, Max is only looking for a cheap laugh. His insincerity is digusting, although not surprising.
History learns us that many independent thinkers were mocked at first, but turned out to be pioneers later.. Are you freakin KIDDING me?!?!? HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!! Now you're a student of history??? Riiiiiiight! History HAS taught us much about the likes of Evans, that is quite true. I believe Adolf Hitler's thinking was that the "Master Race" simply needed a "Final Solution", no? VERY independent thinking there, huh? Oh yes!! Stuck to his guns, didn't he?
Emperor Hirohito was quite the "Free Thinker", too!! REAL history LEARNS (sic) us that he stuck to his guns, too. Murdered those opposed to his "ideas" during the military revolt of '36. Interestingly enough, he was NOT in favor of an alliance with Germany but did so anyway. GREAT free thinking there! He ended up allied with them and, if I remember correctly, he "stuck to his guns" until a couple huge BOMBS annihilated part of his country and thousands of his people!!! Hmm...a real MAVERICK, that guy!

Ooooh I want to know what you're planning Vail! LOL!
Hi everyone! Just popping in to say hello, busy day here and I need to have some dinner lol!
Sorry to hear about your getting laid off but at least you're still getting medications.
I do have some really big plans for this summer, though. What are they? Well, I shall not tell...yet. Only big hint is that I most likely won't be able to go to any concerts this year because of it. It's that important. (Quoting Message by DEN1673 from Wednesday, April 28, 2010 9:15:32 PM)

No need to "ask the opportunity" for forgiveness. It is freely given when deserved. When a bunch of old farts come out of the woodwork to claim that we have seen this person/behavior before, it is true. YOU were never like that "type." Sure, a few missteps here and there but you are a genuine person. Know the history of the site. The respect point system was made to keep out trolls. Many have multiple accounts and it doesn't take a brain surgeon to get around an IP ban.
Nice that you advocate on it's behalf but actually look at the posts. To WHOM it posts. Words used, phrases repeated. Using an old friend's name complete with underscore. By my count, this is about the fourth Maiden thread "discussing" Maiden but the first that doesn't do so. All Maiden is good just doesn't fly, as J.D. said.
No worries, mate. You know that we are a forgiving crew. We aren't the Q after all. LOL!!! Sadly, I don't see it in this case. We are dealing with a troll. [Show/Hide Quoted Message](Quoting Message by Budred from Wednesday, April 28, 2010 5:01:47 AM)

Everybody should NOT post anything in his shitty Iron Maiden thread,he doesn't like Iron Maiden that much thats obvious,if he did he would be arguing Maiden's discography yet he still has no opinion of any albums except him claiming they are all good,if it says Iron Maiden on it then its a go getter! lol! Please, this guy is who we know it is,and from here on out let him vanish in the smoke because when it clears,he will be nowhere to be found. I'm kidding of course, I get who you're talking about. Not one person here is going
to agree with this but I'll put it out there anyway. Maybe, just maybe this person
deserves a break.(no, not his neck). Seriously though, when I talk to him in private
messages or when he PM's me back he really doesn't seem that bad. He takes
shots from everyone. I do not know this person, I can only go by what I read here,
but (almost) everything negative that he's done appears to be in defense. The one thing to me that made him suspect was his failure to discuss anything other than Maiden.
The last couple of days I have read a few posts by him where it appears he is making an
effort to communicate with others. I've been wrong before and I'm sure I'll be wrong again,
but give him a chance. If he proves me wrong I'll apologize and I'll never bring it up again.
Will everyone like him? Probably not, but give him the opportunity to turn it around. If I hadn't
read his last few posts I wouldn't have written this. Take care all!
Long live the Priest and all their fans!

Morning All. Happy "Man-Boob" Monday to ye!
Becks, sorry to hear of the great loss. Most here are aware of my deep respect for the military and those that are brave enough to serve. It is a tremendous loss, indeed. Know that my heart goes out to you and your friends. Stand tall. Stay strong.
A VERY difficult day for me. Just got home from the doctor's office. Nothing new, just my usual bi-monthly visit. I am in incredible pain from this busy weekend. Hardly able to walk and drive but I managed. Laying low the rest of the week (until Thursday). We have that big show in Laughlin this Saturday. I am more excited than I have ever been for this one!! Just imagine playing poolside with the Colorado River right next to you!!! Hoping for warm, sunny weather and a LOT of bikinis....NO, not on ME!!! HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The show last Saturday was just awesome. Great crowd and plenty of fun. The Princess took 143 pictures!!! YOW! I put them in the computer but I will spare you all the arduous process of looking at all of them! If you are interested, they are on our MS page. My new shirt was a hit! Good times!
Well, almost 90 degrees here in Vegas today! Sunny, clear skies and I am stuck in the house, on my chair! Ah well....I suppose I will watch a little baseball and enjoy the weather from the window. Have a GREAT day, gang!

Becks, I'm so sorry to hear about the awful losses you've had to deal with over this weekend. I know you were really looking forward to the parade and then to get such bad news like this must be horrible for you and Craig.
My heart goes out to you both and you and the victims are in my prayers. [Show/Hide Quoted Message](Quoting Message by Becks from Sunday, April 25, 2010 5:44:16 PM)

Until there is no war, that is a sad thing that will take place always. I wish when countries declared war they just sent the old men to fight, who declared war, and were issued nothing but slingshots and rocks. I assure you that if the assholes who wanted a war had to meet on the battlefiled with just stupid weapons the war would end soon.
They would work their differences out, before being able to get into the rest of the world, and life would be WAR free after a bout of that. [Show/Hide Quoted Message](Quoting Message by Becks from Sunday, April 25, 2010 8:03:24 PM)

Mark said that when the boys ask where we are going this year for vacation we are going to tell them "Wherever Halford is playing, that's where we are going!" Have to make up for lost time you know.
That would be very cool if Flora could go to a show with you, and Guido too!! We'll make it happen, I'm sure we can find a show that works out. I know a lot of people will not be happy about this tour because it means that Priest will not be writing/recording a new album anytime soon. Obviously though, Priest decided this on their own and it would have happened whether Rob toured or not, Rob's just filling the gap by touring. While I'm very sad about that, I'm still really happy to finally get to see HALFORD live! God I love Resurrection and Crucible - both albums kick f'ing ass!!

GOOOOOOOOOD Morning and Happy Saturday to all!!!!!!! I trust everyone is well? BIG show tonight so I am doing a "hit and run" on you all this morning! MUCH to do before the evening begins!!! For anyone that is interested, we have a few cover songs posted (finally) on our MS page. There is one Priest tune there! Have a listen when you get the urge!! I will check back with all of you soon!! Here's the link!...;
I'm glad you guys(ladies) posted that. I gotta find the dates and locations. I got to see Halford twice
and loved them both times. It may not be Priest but it will suffice. I'm glad I live where I do. I am within
an hour of Pittsburgh, Pa., and within two hours of Cleveland and Columbus, Oh.. Almost everyone hits
one of the three. The fartherest I've ever had to travel for a show is 5 1/2 hours to Detroit. Peace all.

Same here Spa! We are bouncing off the walls with happiness! We missed the other Halford tours and I just never thought I'd get a chance to see them......
Vail, I hug trees and talk to my plants everyday... maybe that's why they won't let me back into the botanical gardens anymore lol (just kidding) That said I fully support Earth Day and I'm so glad to see that the good folks of this noticeboard support it too.
Happy Earth Day, ladies and gents of the Noticeboard!! Did you hug a tree today? HA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just kidding, just kidding...
Today is also Take your Kids to Work Day. Has anyone ever been taken to a parent's workplace as a kid on this day? Just curious.

Lol@ kids running around a lab. Becks, my two do a science class at school and they have to wear protection glasses and white lab coats. It is too cute for words seing all these 3 to 6 year olds in lab gear. They're doing a photo album for the parents so soon as I get the photos I'll post one or two here it really looks very cute. Enjoy ANZAC day and I hope you'll get some great shots of the parade for us. We've got freedom day on 27th so lets see how that goes here. Not sure how many people are feeling festive or hopeful in SA right now but maybe we'll get some encouragement and action from our government who knows.
Have a safe and happy trip see you upon your return xxx
That's random lol! No kids at my work today, wouldn't want them running about in a lab anyways.
I'm off for the weekend, we're going home for ANZAC day on sunday. ANZAC = Australia New Zealand Army Corps. It's a very special day of rememberance for both countries, and Craig will be marching in the parade back home. Catch you all when I get back!

The one thing I'll always hold near to my heart about this place is how we support each other through the good times as well as the bad. Sure, as with any family we may not always see eye to eye at times, but when it matters most, you all are there!!
As far as my father goes, anyone who's gone through this knows how tough it is to deal with. The way I'm looking at it is the family has time to properly say good bye, tell him how much we love him, and make however long he has left as comfortable and peaceful as possible for him. The one thing he wanted to do was live long enough to see his great grandson, he now is gonna have that chance...
...Loghan was born at 7:34am today. He's 7lb 4oz, 19 1/2 in., dark curly hair (like me) with deep blue eyes (also like me, for now lol), and the little guy is so peaceful. Just like when my daughter was born, while holding him as he slept I couldn't help but wonder what in the world he was dreaming about?!? One moment he seemed to smile, the next he's puckering his lips, the next he kicks his leg or moves his arm...what the heck is he dreaming about???
Enjoying the moment is what I did today, and it will live with me forever!! Mom is healthy while Dad is exhausted and they're both ready for about 15 hours of uninterupted sleep. Today is a day for me to count my blessings, and to appreciate your kindness...thank you all!!

Ron, life is too often like this. We get tremendous highs with tremendous lows. I am so happy that he gets to meet his grandson and that he has you all around to keep him comfortable and to spend as much time with him as you can. Tell him you love him as much as you can and speak about everything that is on your mind. I will be praying for your family and especially for your father.
Freeze, you summed up life so perfectly in that last post! Always with the words of wisdom at the right time, how do you get it right time after time? Sorry I left so abruptly yesterday Freeze and Guido, this has turned into quite the weekend so far. Had to go visit my Dad yesterday with my brother as he is now in a conv. home. He had a kidney removed just after the new year because of cancer and was supposedly cancer free after that. Two weeks ago he was home watching TV when he felt a sharp pain on his side. A trip to the emergency room and two days of testing later it was discovered that cancer had returned to his lungs, liver and in his bones. He's been in and out of radiation since and is rarely awake and coherant. Tomorrow he starts chemo and that will continue until he can't handle it anymore or it's gone (highly unlikely as it's in his bones now). So being in what I jokingly call a halfway house, he was up and about and we wound up staying the bulk of the day with him.
On the flip side, my daughter is at the hospital about ready to give birth to Loghan, my grandson. I'll be heading over there in the next hour or so.

I'm so sorry to hear about your dad Ron. I really hope that he responds to the chemo and that he can spend some wonderful moments with his great grandson. We are thinking of you and hoping for the best.
And congratulations to you on becoming a grandpa! Enjoy every moment, they are only little for such a short time. There is just something special about holding a newborn baby. I remember watching my sons for hours and the little expresions they would make and wondering the same thing - what are they dreaming about? This is what life is all about - these wonderful moments. Enjoy! [Show/Hide Quoted Message](Quoting Message by ron h from Sunday, April 18, 2010 6:40:11 PM)

Ron, I know you have too much going on right now. It's a shame that it is a mixed bag of good and unfortunate. The greatest generation will be around long enough to meet the new generation, THAT takes determination on the bahalf of your father and he must be a true fighter and someone you must be very proud of. With a determination like his, he may just suprise you and be around for quite some time. Attitude and will are such strong driving forces.

Like DF said, Ron, no need to apologize in the least! In fact, I find it quite humbling that you would even think that with all you have on your plate right now. Take care of yourself and the family, my friend. Don't worry at all about us.
To answer the question, though, yes. That is my little bro. A second question I always got when I first posted those pics long ago was: "is that your father in the scene in the park?" No. The "old man" was the guy who is usually forced to take the picture. Especially when we are skiing.
Congrats on the new gradson. You deserve all the good things life has to offer. Like Freeze said, it is to fragile and, I'll add, too short not to try and live up every moment. I WILL find and scan that Cubbies pic for you. You'll get a laugh. [Show/Hide Quoted Message](Quoting Message by ron h from Sunday, April 18, 2010 5:31:30 AM)

Ron, glad I could find a way to take you with me to "that place". Cubs, Dodgers, Toledo Mudhens...makes no diffference to me. Its all about the time of year and all those things which make it what it is to us. Things that remind of us simpler days. Of family vacations in the mountains or at the beach or wherever. Camping, swimming, hiking. Sitting in that aforementioned chair after all the "eatin" is done and just looking into the night sky... Nothing like a warm, summer evening by the pool.

No need to apologize, Ron. We are facing a similar situation this weekend, believe it or not. Apparently, the Princess' uncle has been very ill for several months and fell in his home three days ago. NO ONE came for him and he could not reach a phone so he laid there, helpless, for the entire time! He was placed in ICU last night and she went to the hospital to be with him. Further, her brother's wife found a lump Friday and has to have emergency surgery next week. In a nutshell, ALL very bad.
I often wonder at times like these about the true fragility of life. Those of us that were around years ago will recall my battle and subsequent life-change. It amazes me how easily we forget that life is so much like a small pool of water in a desert. It exists only so long as conditions allow. The delicate balance that sustains it can change and cause a catastrophic shift in the blink of an eye, yet we go on..everyday..never realizing that we walk a plank in this world and rely on things completely out of our control to keep us from falling. One small change in our world and we start to slip..to teeter..waving our arms desperately as we try to maintain balance... It's only then that we realize there is a VERY real possibility that we will drop. Or that we MAY drop.
I am grateful for each day. I cannot say that this was always so. I worried about tomorrow. I wondered "what will become of me"..? I have come to realize that I can control somethings and others, I cannot. I try, when possible, to live in the moment. Music has made an incredible difference for me. For brief periods, I am transported to another world. Another life. I become someone else. Someone from a dream. I live there for an hour or so and return back to myself and I smile. I know that I am still balanced on that plank..for now. I may fall tomorrow but , then again, I may not. No matter what, I accept that the pool is still there. The water has not dried up and the elements have not conspired against me...today. I drink. I live. I sleep. I do it all again. For now. Enjoy the moment, my friends. Make that moment count. When you wake in the morning and IF the pool is still there, enjoy it again.
Freeze, one could not claim a love for the game if they didn't know who Vin Scully was. I did not know he was retiring at the end of the season, he will be greatly missed!! I completely feel your pain, bro. Like you, the voice's of summers gone by bring warmth to my heart and a smile to my face...eternal youth and hope!! Vin Scully is a true living legend!!
Guido!!! I do remember now that I see it!!!! A fellow Priest AND Cubs fan, it get's no better than that!!! And that's your brother with you? Two peas in a pod I say!!

Haaa!!! Do you mean the Dick the Bruiser song? I absolutely LOVED it.
Sadly, as someone posted right below the commercial I put forth, "local" radio is growing scarce. They DID play it in old Tiger Stadium but not new "Comerica Field."
I think of spring training and opening day and that song comes to mind every year!! Is there a pre-game show or telecast on opening day that doesn't open with that song?? I simply love it!!
I was hoping to catch a game this past week but they traveled to Toronto on the day I had the time. This is twice now I've missed out on visiting that beautiful new staium they play in now. I like it that it's recessed below street level a good bit so you can catch a glimpse from the strret on the right side of the stadium.

Good Morning, all! An absolutely memorable Saturday morning here in Las Vegas. Sun is up early, not a cloud in the sky and the temps should be well over 80 degrees today!! It appears that it will be a great day to do something I truly enjoy; watch Dodger baseball!!! Ahhhhhh....the summer days are closing in and life takes its slow, lazy turn towards bliss...... It is to weep with joy.
SO good to see Steve (Demon) back with us! One of the true pioneers of this site and a respected, honorable member. I recall, with great fondness, days gone by with him, MM, DAS and so many others that have since found their way out into the world. Change is the one true constant, no? Such days of lunacy. Light hearted fun and a closeness that seems to evade us all too often these days.
Forgive me if I wax nostalgic but those of you that know me well know that the warmth of summer and the long, lazy days thereof are my time. This is the time of year that I love most. The blazing hot sun, the scantily clad ladies, the almost mathmatical beat of the ocean waves, the smell of charcoals as the grill awaits its first sizzle of a nice, juicy steak, the timeless dance of the "Boys of Summer" as they play the game I love so dearly and the moments at night when the warmth of the day seems to linger endlessly on your skin and the stars shine just a tiny bit brighter in the summer skies. The ice cold drinks that soothe your parched throat after a long day in the sun. The music (Priest, of course) playing for hours as your sit deep in your chair by the slowly fading coals of another successful barbeque.... If there is a "god", this is what he meant for all of us. Enjoy your day, my friends. Enjoy it and remember it for these truly are our best days.
