Well, ill stick to my opinion, regardless of the shitstorm that seems to have engulfed every web page that ends either with .si or .us... The goal was regular, and it was a nice one too. But since the US team deserved at least one red card and got none, ill say it was all fair in the end, with both teams still looking good to qualify to the round of 16.

As for ties, if our teams make it to the playoffs, you wont have to put up with those anymore, because there cant be a tie in playoffs.

Im just a little bit pissed on the supporters of both countries. Youtube comments always make me feel like a nuclear war wouldnt be such a bad thing, but this is something new alltogether.

Ties are a pain, but in close tournaments it can be the make or break for many teams. As far as I have head, the 3rd goal wasn't allowed due to shoving of some sort. Not sure though. I must find a highlights video and see for myself.

Speaking as one that very honestly has NO idea what is going on with regard to this game, I can only assume that there was a grievous error by this referee. I would not know it if I saw it but all the ESPN pundits keep babbling on about it so there has to be something there, no? I was watching and it appeared to me that all the players were pushing and shoving and whatnot. Nothing glaringly obvious that I could see. I do know that I NEVER feel it is right to blame an official for a loss. I mean, the fact remains that the US team did not WIN it.  Period.  Refs and umpires don't make plays...PLAYERS make them. Or, as in this case, do NOT make them. As for the particulars, that is for you soccer folks to debate. I STILL say ties SUCK!

Just watching a replay of the match now, yellow cards everywhere!

Perfect! England 0-0 Algeria. With that result, our boys need a draw or better against a very unconvincing England to go on. Maybe not even that, provided that Algerians draw with the US in the next round. Anyway, it was a very good day today. It would have been better if we won against the US, but whats done is done... Maybe its better this way, means that nothing is decided yet.
[Becks] Friday, June 18, 2010 11:57:44 AM
Hmm, Serbia beat Germany eh? I have to say I am surprised, I will try to catch a replay later today though. Another draw too I see, LOL!!
I have one other thing to say...............GO ENGLAND! LOL!

True. Truth be told, the goal was regular, and Im not sure why the referee cancelled it. But, Americans played really rough too, and Dempsey at least should have got sent of for the foul right at the beginning, so when all is said and done, I think 2:2 is a fair result.

Now, we are all hoping that England wont win against Algeria.

Holy crapola! Both teams have tied. Slovenia got lucky that US' third goal didn't count. Cool game!!

????? WE GOT FREEZE TO WATCH FOOTBALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thats better than winning!

Anyway, lets be a bit more carefull... Im pretty nervous here. The US team was better on the first game against England, than ours was against Algeria, even tho we won... We will see. But, you wont see me probably until halftime, likely not until the end of the game, so see you later!

Well now strat, old boy!! Looks like today is THE day, no? The big "showdown"! I actually have the television on and I am watching (sort of) this Germany/Serbia match as I wait, with as much anticipation as I am able to muster, for our big face off! Mano y mano. Head to head. Gland in gland.....well, you get the idea.

As I still don't (and likely never will) understand this game, I will root with all my nationalistic fervor for a "victory", if that is possible, over the reviled Slovenian infidels!!! FIE I say!!! They shall be reduced to grass fodder!!  Pounded and left for dead as the mighty Americans flex their soccer superiority for "all" the world to witness!!!

There now. Have I sufficiently captured  the essence of this truly epic event??? HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!

Strange new ball, pretty, but it looks more like a volleyball than a football.

Good news Becks. Karma is haunting the Aussies as arch-prick, Vince Grella, has been ruled out of their next match with an injury.
[_strat_] Thursday, June 17, 2010 2:51:16 PM

Great game between Mexico and France! I was rooting for Mexico, and they certainly didnt let me down. Now, truth be told, I think that the first goal was scored from an offside, but since they were playing against a team that cheated its way into the cup, that doesnt bother me much. The penalty was clean, in any case.

Cant wait for tomorrow - Serbia vs. Germany (rooting for Serbia, of course), then in the afternoon... -insert drum roll here- Slovenia vs. USA! Keep your shirts Guido - I am NOT betting!

[_strat_] Thursday, June 17, 2010 2:46:29 PM
Nice balls Guido.

The new ball looks great! Seems that its made out of a lot less pieces of leather than the previous ones. I can certainly see how it makes keepers pissed.

Me too, obviously, but I really don't know of too many people who would understand spending a mint on a ball that will never be used. Probably end up sealing it in mylar! HAAA!!  Still, worth every penny.

There are always two (or three if you count the finals...usually if not always a different ball) that are released: an official and a replica often termed the "Replique."

A Replique sells for around $25 USD retail while the official is marketed at $150 USD. Pakistan USED to manufacture all of them. Lately, though, China has taken over. Surprise surprise.

I agree, though, it is gorgeous!
