Why thank you but no praise is necessary...until I strap on skates for them, that is! LOL!
Nice comments from what you read as well but I certainly am not one to "count chickens" (Wings) before all is said and done. Like I said before, that first period just looked way too sloppy for my comfort zone. Would that the Wings close it out in four but it is laughable to expect it. Hawks are simply playing their usual agressive style with some fine talent now. To be continued...

Hey Ron! That's some food for thought!! Here's my opinion...
I think the teams with experience know how to handle the longer series
that can come along. Poss. 7 gms each roound! I don't think it would taint the Cup
if a lower seeded team wins, I notice each year that you hear a lot of the same names
that have won cups before are now on teams in the hunt this year. As with NFL this past
year ( Cardinals ??) I think teams can get hot but the longer series shows the truly better
team. "IMO" I agree the Wings are the best on paper in the west but they have to play the
games!! Look at Pitt vs. Caps ?? Pitt had the experience and took that game away in 1 period.
Just my opin and I too am enjojing these playoffs!!
later... ...So here's a general question that I'd like some opinion on...the Sharks won the Presidents trophy by way of having the most points in the regular season, but were bounced in the 1st round...does that eliminate them from being the best team in the NHL as they will not win the Stanley Cup this year? The reason I ask is that I think Detroit is the best team in the West still in the playoffs, if they lose to the Ducks, will that 'cheapen' the series with the Hawks?? I think the answer is more easily answered in some of the other sports (ie MLB has only a 5 game opening series to start the first round and the NFL games are all one and done, so whichever team is 'hot' on that day may not necessarily be the best team)...does the same logic apply here in the NHL?? |

Reality and (recent) history have shown that it's hard to keep a good team together, the NHL is no different from the other 3 in that respect, although to a lesser degree in MLB...in the playoffs, only 1 team ends their season with a win, so I'm just gonna enjoy the ride for however long it last's, I'm not greedy, I'll take each season as it comes...but the Hawks have, this year, exceeded most (if not all) expectations already, I don't think that they're feeling any pressure whatsoever, and that has it's own advantages (and is dangerous!!)...
I'm torn between who to root for tonight...Detroit took it to us the first 4 games and we took the last two, but the Wings didn't need those games as the Hawks did need them...I'm not scared of the Ducks (1-1 away and 2-0 @ home), but they did knock SJ out and have a game 7 @ Wings...what I'm torn between is home ice advantage and the chance to play against the best team in the West, and they would have home ice...Yes, I want the Hawks to win, but if they do, I'd like it to be done against the best...I know, I'm crazy [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by Head banger from Tuesday, May 12, 2009 9:36:47 AM) | | Head banger wrote: | | I would take him in net for my team. easily top 5 goalie. was good fun to watch for sure. your hawks have the makings of a great young team. | | ronhartsell wrote: | | To start with I must say that Luongo is gonna catch hell for his performance last night, but it's not justified, he didn't get a lot of help and he was really good in the first period...bad penalties and bad defense had more to do with it than anything...IMO he is one of the best goalies in the game and has been for the better part of a decade...4 of 5 with a man advantage was the (I think) the story of the game last night...Vancouver has some decisions to make this off season regarding FA's, and although their season has come to an end, they've got nothing to be ashamed of!!!
From a fan's point of view, it was a great game to watch...I would have been disappointed if the Hawks had lost, but it was fun none the less...what a 3rd period, one of the best I've seen, although the Washington/Pitt game was probably one of the best games this entire post season!!!
These next 2 days are have 3 game 7's...the ride is just getting good!!!
PS...last night's game tallied the 1,006,920th fan in the turnstiles for the Hawks at home this year!!! |

AAAH BLACKHAWKS UP BY 2 GOALS. I HEARD RON SCREAN FRON 1500 MILES AWAY.
LOVE GAME SEVENS PITTSBURGH AND WASHINGTON. REAL SOFT GAME WINNING GOAL
