LOL. not the whole show.  the guys were in a great mood, Rob was vocally, so fucking good.  he hit notes that i've not heard him hit since the 80's and 90's!!!!  there were times when he reminded me of the fuel for life show.  oh dear god, and when they did rock hard ride free, and eat me alive?  i was a gonner.  oh god.  it was so good.  they were so good.   LOL, the night before when we all met at the Loose Caboose, ( i still say its a fitting name!) Freezies princess had purchased sharpies and poster board for us.  (thank you again sweetheart!!!) so we all set about making our signs for the show after we had eaten.  we were all there.  we get to the venue, and nope.  gotta hand over the signs!!!   so now what?  well, we get in there and Doll has the paper tickets printed, so we used the silver sharpied and the backs of the tickets to make a couple signs anyway. bwahahahaaa!!!  well, she made one that said "Sinner" with an arrow pointing down, so when you hold it over your head, you know..it says your a sinner.  well, we held it up, and Glenn read it, and nodded his head, pointed and basically said.."yep, we're gonna play that tonight:"  AHAHAHAAA!!!  IT WAS AWESOME. though, we weren't requesting it!  anyway, it was amazing.  freeze can attest to the fact that we were all on the jumbo screen numerous times.  they kept showing my shirt i'd made apparently.  my eyes were locked on the blue eyed one, so i didnt notice.  though at one point, i did stretch it out when the camera guy was in my face to show it off.  KK read my first sign, laughed and i think pointed.  (doll? clarification?) he read the second one and said "Thank you!", smiled at some "cleavage" i was showing though i didnt see that, i looked away, but Doll says he did.  then he reached out and took my hand at the end of the show, after he came to the front of the stage to read my shirt.  he liked it.    i am hoarse, i have whiplash, and my heart is heavy.  not like the metal either. LOL.  i miss the girls, so much.  we had a glorious time.  LOL, after the show was over, picture this....a bunch of 40 50 something metal heads pooring out of a venue, INSIDE the casino full of NON metal heads, screaming, HOLLERING, CHANTING, "PRIEST PRIEST PRIEST".  it was so freeking crazy!!!  all through out the casino, the hotel, you could hear us, hear the call of the Priest.  god damn, it did my soul good.   hugs

Oh, yeah!! Almost forgot:

I think there were quite alot of fans that were planning to get onstage last night. There was this one guy who tried to tackle Dio during one song (I don't remember which one), and this one heavy set guy who got onstage during Judas Priest's set. He just stood there taking in the view and our cheers. I was pretty impressed as to how the big guy got onstage without security knowing. Overall it was pretty wild, just the way I like my shows.   

Alright its time to give out my review of the concert!

Testament 8/10
They were too loud even for my ears at times. The set was good but the sound was too overwhelming most of the time. My roomates and a lot of other people had to hold their ears most of the time. If the sound was turned down a couple of notches it would be better. Then again we were 8 rows from the front on the left side in the direct line of 12 hanging vertical speakers.

Motorhead 9.5/10
Now they have a reason to be loud: "We are Motorhead! We play Rock 'n Roll!" They had a great set with songs like "Metropolis", "Rock Out", "Going to Brazil" and finishing off with "Ace of Spades" and "Overkill". Mikkey Dee did an awesome drum solo and the band was great overall. By this time my roomates got earplugs to help them with the really loud parts. 

Heaven and Hell 10/10
They are still doing great and were as good if not better than when they were here in Tucson last October. They played songs I wanted to hear like "Die Young", "Falling Off the Edge of the World" and "I". Everyone was great: Tony Iommi was still freaking awesome, Geezer Butler made a great impression with the effects, Vinnie Appice was great with a good drum solo and Dio was great as always running around the stage to the fans and showing great poise and talent.

Judas Priest 15/10
I now know what it is like seeing Priest live: IT IS F***ING AWESOME!!! They did the setlist a lot of people on the forums said but without "Death" :( . But it was still incredible and everyone got to hear their favorite songs or songs they just want to hear. I really liked it when they did "Rock Hard, Ride Free". Funny story happened here too: a storm was approaching during the Heaven and Hell set and was on top of us when Priest started. When Priest did "Devil's Child" the wind and rain picked up to the point where everyone under the cover was hit by rain. But when the song ended the storm passed. Halford commented after the storm "I guess that's what happens when you believe in the Devil's Child." LOL

Overall an amazing performance. LONG LIVE THE PRIEST!!!!!!

It was the fashion statement of the time to wear leather ties.

Unfortunately, I missed Testament and Motorhead.  Heaven and Hell were good, but after all these years, Vinny Appice still gets on my nerves and I wish they had a better drummer.  It looked to me that he was getting on Geezers nerves too, he is very distracting.  He is no Scott Travis that is for sure.  Heaven and Hell would be better off with a drummer that has a more linear style that doesn’t overplay like Appice.  Iommi was great, Dio still has his voice.  Sign of the Southern Cross was long and boring then there was a drum solo.

With all the great songs Dio and Black Sabbath have, why a drum solo?  I’d rather have heard another song.

Priest was tight, had terrific sound, they were having fun on stage.  You can tell they love Texas.  I love when they all go up and down together and are in a synch of sonic fury.  Judas Priest heavy metal sounds so heavy at these volumes.  When I’m a Priest concert, I always think to myself that there is no band heavier than they are, esp live.  There is nobody heavier than Priest in concert.  Their music makes me enter a state of euphoria, better than any drug.  I start jumping up and down and people don’t like to stand near me.   I love the way (good) hard rock and heavy metal sound live.  Even a song like Angel sounds so heavy, man I love that song.  Don’t understand why it was never a single.  A very, very professional heavy metal sound, it was LOUD, but clear.  Weather was good, esp for an August night in Texas.  The band opened with Prophecy then slammed thru Metal Gods and Eat me Alive.  Great drum sound, Rob was on top his game.  The band played at my favorite outdoor amphitheater here called Starplex (Superpages.com now) a terrific place for hard rock/metal shows.  Guessing, I would say there were between 10,000 to 11,000 people there.  Last yr they brought back I’m a Rocker and Hot Rockin’ which I have always liked, this year they brought back Dissident Aggressor, Eat me Alive, Hammer and Anvil, Hell Patrol and Rock Hard. 

I’m proud to say it was my 13^th time to see Judas Priest, and this was one of their best.

FRIDAY NIGHT IN DALLAS TX AND THE PRIEST IS BACK!!!  MY 13th time to see the Boys...  TONIGHT!!

I read a lot of the posts on this board criticizing the band for the short set lists or not playing this song or that and it frustrates me.  When I first saw Judas Priest in 1984 I would have NEVER imagined I would be going to see them in 2008 and that they would still be able to put on a show like I saw on Saturday night.  As opposed to criticizing them we should be celebrating the fact that these guys in their late 50's and in Glen's case, early 60's can still put on a show full of energy and quality that bands half their age only dream of.  One hour of Priest live is worth five hours of any other band on the planet.  If you don't have tickets for the tour, get them.  Long live PRIEST, the greatest metal band on the earth!  And may you continue "blasting the cannons of truth through each man on this earth!"

Yes we made it home just fine...but it was hard to leave there.  What a great day!!  The pre-show party was great, met lots of great people there from all over...and not just Preist fans, lots of Motorhead and Black Sabbath...oops I mean, Heaven and Hell.  All the bands were great!!  Diffenately the best gig this year.

It was great meeting you and hangin out for the day.  Cheers to everyone I met there...sorry can't remember too many names.
