I agree with you about Zep.  metalica WAS worthy, then lost it.

the most over rated metal band in history ?
no question about it : Metallica
followed closely by Led Zeppelin
thats not to say I dont like Zep  but, If I have to sit through stairway to heaven one more time I will not be held responsible for my actions !!!!

I completely despise rap, and rap metal. In 1986, however, I just thought it was funny to hear Ludichrist do it on one of their songs. I still don't understand why Anthrax did that cheesey rap song. Fuck, even my all-time favorite band, Rush, did some rap thing during the song Roll The Bones. I hate rap with a passion, and I hate the way society has tried to shove rap down our throats. I can't even pump gas in my car without some idiot at the pump next to me with stupid spinning rips on his Monte Carlo blasting some bullshit rap music.

I totally agree.

Rap makes me want to puke and I can't stand it when metal bands incorporate rap into their music.
[Steve Forrest] Friday, October 08, 2010 5:28:06 AM
I also hate "rap metal", but I must say one on my all-time favorite bands invented it. I never thought it would grow as big as it did. LUDICHRIST did the rap thing in 1986 on their first album during the song Green Eggs And Ham. That Ludichrist album fucking rules. It's definitely on my top 10 list. Then Anthrax tried it with 'I'm The Man'. Then Faith No More did 'Epic'. Please note, I HATE Limp Bizkit, Papa Roach, P.O.D., Korn, etc, but for some reason, some good bands in the late 80's started this whole bullshit. Budred, I'm not bashing you, this is just not my taste, but check out those other 3 things I just mentioned. Especially Ludichrist, if you can find it. The album is called Immaculate Deception, and like I said, it's on my top 10 list of all-time best metal albums.

No more back and forths for me right now. Say what you want. I will make one comment.
I only know of one (maybe two) of their songs that have Rap in them. Any other criticism,
to each his own.

Hey Budred, not trying to bash here but these guys are just way too far outside the classic metal box for me. Just too much rap influence and a lack of guitar solos and good vocals.  Now I know you like this so more power to ya.  That's my opinon on it. Ha! Oh yeah i'll bet you $500 that Diamond is a closet Mushroomhead and slipknot freak. ..lmao   [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by Budred from Wednesday, October 06, 2010 2:39:22 PM)

That's two apologies so I have to believe you're sincere. I think that's cool of you to do that so
I hope you take the time to hear me out and understand my post. I have absolutely no problem with you hating my music.
I have no problem with you bashing them by name. I knew full well that people didn't care for MRH here. I didn't get a single
response when I posted those concert videos and wasn't bothered at all. I was sharing just in case someone else did want
to see them. When you made your initial response you used some pretty derogatory comments and then brought up my name
so my initial reaction was to take it as a personal attack. I don't do that to anybody unless it's done to me first so it bothers
me and so I responded like I did. Dude, the only thing I ask of you is to leave my name out when you do bash and  I'll gladly show
you the same courtesy. The only thing that makes me angry on here is personal attacks, nothing else.

We like more of the same stuff than you realize. Priest (favorite)
                                                                                           Sabbath (2nd favorite)
                                                                                            Rainbow (Dio era)
                                                                                              Dio (of course)
                                                                                              Maiden (up until 7th Son)
Saxon (Wheels of Steel, Denim and Leather, The Eagle has Landed)
Kiss (I still listen to old Kiss)
                                                                                                 Metallica (old)
                                                                                                  Venom
I have a Celtic Frost album cover tattoo on my leg.

Hey Budred,I apologize for bashing your stuff ok? I shouldn't of said what I did,so I'll work on what I say to avoid a senseless confrontation ok? I don't like those bands you do but that doesn't mean you can't like them.I said before that if one single person likes a band then they don't suck.

I am extremely narrow minded in my musical tastes but its something that I thrive on,I am a traditionalist when it comes to metal music, its an "oath" ,its a passion for the metal music that I was introduced to.I've tried to listen to other types of metal but my soul rejects it like food poisoning and thows it up.

I like "normal" shit as I call it,stuff like old Black Sabbath,Rainbow with Dio which is really  just mystical rock and roll,I like Motorhead,Pentagram which is also traditional hard rock in the vien of Black Sabbath,I of course love Judas Priest as they are my all-time favorite band,I like old Iron Maiden and the 2006 AMOLAD album too,I like Saxon, old Kiss, old Metallica,I like Running Wild(some of thier albums)Iced Earth's first 2 albums,Tank's first album which is hard rock from 1981.

I like traditional black metal bands like Venom,Mercyful Fate,Bathory,Hellhammer,Celtic Frost,....all these bands have a "normal" traditional non-trend statement to them all, everything from the sound to the image all of them are elite, its something I thrive on.Its hard to keep my mouth shut when I see "nu-metal" being promoted, again I apologize.

You think I just like Saxon and Death metal? lol! You are fucking "retarded" Budred. Get the fuck off your "I am Budred and I am mature" bullshit...its getting fucking "old". Please, you think because a person is getting older then he has to conform to your bullshit "Mushroomhead" or any other garbage for that matter? Fuck you. You are the one that is "pathetic".

Idiotic stupid people that I like? I've never heard anyone say it but you. And yes I do like them, very much so, and
actually find your criticism funny. If your life is so pathetic that you have to sit in front of the computer and rip everyone else's
music because it's not Saxon or Death Metal then you really are in a sad state. You're missing out on so much. When I was
a kid (7th grade) I used to think music had to be metal to be good. I've since grown up and my mind has evolved as such.
Some minds never evolve and always stay in a childlike state. Then they rip everyone else thinking they know best when actually
they don't know sh*t. So go ahead, call my music shit, you'll think your right and in your world that's all that matters. In my world I'll
just laugh.

Morbid Angel nowadays is a sold-out band that used to be killer, back in 1989 this album was released and it set a new standard of what death metal was becoming, the "Immortal Rites" track is an excellent example of what true death metal really is and utterly destroys shit bands like Slipknot and Mushroomhead.

Yes,Death & Insanity is an excellent album, the band's best by far. However I bought Tales Of Terror in 85' when it came out because I liked the album cover haha! It ended up that I happened to like the album ect...what a classic!
Plunging To Megadeath!!!!! lol!

[J.D. DIAMOND] Tuesday, September 28, 2010 1:45:28 PM
Oh now way dude,Speed Freak, the title track "Monument" ,the song 'Painkiller"(written in 1988!)and "No Sanctuary" are the 4 worthy tracks to me,the 2 best are definately "Monument" and "Painkiller".  But the rest of the LP...yeah,I don't care for it.

Imagine Skid Row trying to play a bunch of Hallows Eve songs. That's what they sounded like when I saw them in the early 90's.
[Steve Forrest] Sunday, September 26, 2010 1:16:29 PM
I remember seeing Hallows Eve around '92 or '93, thinking that I was going to see a good classic thrash band, because I also loved the first 3 albums. Well, the first 2 anyway. Monument only had a couple songs that I liked. But the show I saw was horrible. I think the bass player was the only member left. Everyone else in the band was different and they sounded like shit. It was a huge disappointment. I didn't know they were still active now. I'll have to look them up.

Hallow's Eve is still active, but sadly the song writting on the latest album isn't that great in my opinion. I like the first 3 studio albums,Tales Of Terror I bought in 85' the year it was out lost the LP somewhere throughout the years but I have all 3 albums on CD. I just don't like the new stuff.

While I'm thinking about it, I have another very large complaint! If there are any other metalheads from the Atlanta area that loved the local scene in the late 80's/early 90's, perhaps you will agree...
Sevendust and Mastadon are 2 bands from the Atlanta area that made it big. Stuck Mojo also did well in the late 90's. What the fuck? These are 3 of the most overrated and worst bands EVER!!! What happened to all the GOOD bands from the Atlanta area? What happened to Ghost Story? What happened to Kinetic Dissent? What happened to Nihilist? What happened to Damnage? What happened to Malignancy? Where the fuck is Dementia? What about Reality Trip? or Anxiety? Lastregus Nosferatus? Necropolis? Akathesia? Hallows Eve? Dick Delicious And The Tastey Testicles? Coagulated Bile? COME ON PEOPLE!!! There were planty of good bands that should have been signed to Roadrunner or whatever at the time and all of these bands were completely overlooked! Instead we get bullshit like Sevendust and Mastadon.
I'm sure most other major cities ignored the good bands from that time period as well. The shit that is popular today absolutely SUCKS in comparison to what could have been!

I remember Toxik very well. They were very talented. Their first album was good, but their second one was way too progressive for me. I remember Savage Grace as well. They were Iron Maiden clones IMO. Not a bad band, but far from original. There are hundreds of long forgotten eighties metal bands. Here's a list with more than 1300 obscure eighties metal albums: http://vibrationsofdoom.com/test/index.html The overwhelming majority of the stuff that's listed there is probably lukewarm at best or just complete crap. Sometimes there's a reason why bands don't hit the big time.

These aren't really overrated bands, just bands that I haven't heard in a while and wonder if anybody else remembers them. Here's some old bands that I used to like and I wish were still around. (maybe they are and I just don't know it)  Toxik, Wargasm, Whiplash, Juggernaut, Wehrmacht, Infernal Majesty, Rigor Mortis, Sye, Predator, Exxplorer, Savage Grace, Sentinel Beast, Bloodlust, Cyclone Temple, Atrophy, Forced Entry, Devastation, Liege Lord, to name a few. Just felt a little nostalgic today.

Unfortunately, 'Under Jolly Roger' was the last Running Wild album that I have heard. It's an awesome album. I need to get some more of their stuff. I'll check out 'Masquerade' first. Onslaught's 'The Force' was awesome, too.
I was really into death metal in the early 90's when it was good. Now that it has been commercialized, it has been ruined. You're right about that!

Hey Steve,I just started getting into Running Wild, never listened to them before,I actually like over half of thier discography!  The last album that was decent was year 2000 "Victory". 2002 "The Brotherhood" and 2005 Vouge En Rouge albums sounded like Rolf changed the style of the band slightly, and I just couldn't get into those albums. The best Running Wild album in my opinion is 1995 "Masquerade",what a classic!

As for all these shit bands out today,I'm with you on this. Bands have slid off the traditional forfront of "metal". Take a look at Poland's "Behemoth"...thier sound is still death metal but its sooooo fucking commercial its ruined the "underground" flavor to me,take a look at thier new video,I'm sure its on the lame Head Banger's ball, but take a look at it....it is too commercial, this is not what death metal was all about. I've listened to death metal since it came out,I remember buying Onslaught's first album in 1985 when it first came out...on the back of the album it said "Death Metal At It's Heaviest".  This entire genre "sucks" now,and when people ask me if I like "death metal" I say "NO". Because all the "true" death metal bands they people that ask me never heard of before!!!! Yes,it all "sucks" ass now Steve, and it is "ruined".

Exactly! What the fuck happened to metal? What happened to Running Wild? or Bloodlust? or Sacred Reich? And where the fuck did Converge come from? God Damn it! I've been a metal fan since I was 6! It all started with Ted Nugent's Weekend Warriors album. After the turn of the century (actually, maybe a few years before), metal took a nosedive.  I'm just extremely thankful for the older bands that are still here and trying to keep metal alive. Judas Priest, Dio, Voivod, etc. THANK YOU! [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by J.D. DIAMOND from Wednesday, December 09, 2009 4:20:06 PM)

Yes. They are not "DEATH METAL" at all. They are a bunch of OZZ FEST posers that claim to play death metal and the shit band Dimmu Borgir claims to play black metal, they came out in 96' in Norway as a trend band and have been ever since, they are NOT like the old black metal bands of Norway at all. Going back to these so-called"death metal" bands, yeah they suck and they are the ones that are killing this genre, its already "dead". Fucking bastards!!!!!

In Flames, Soilwork, Arch Enemy, Lacuna Coil, Lamb Of God, Dimmu Borgir, Static X, holy shit, what a bunch of mindless crap! I don't mind some new cds by old bands (Grave Digger, Helloween, Voivod for example), but FUCK all these newer bands that are on every cover of every metal magazine!

With their most recent albums, Lateralus has one or two good songs, but 10,000 Days was fucked up weird as LOL!!!! I can't take thier weird shit either, too progressive but thats not why I don't like them, theres nothing that goes along with the progressive nature, its just all cyber aged technical bullshit in my eyes.I'm so sick of all of this technical crap, not only by established artists but even somebody's band I hear these days (except for a few)....I'm waiting for an oldschool rock or metal riff and it all comes out like "Tool" somehow!! lol!!! Especially 100,000,000 Eyes or whatever it's called. What a pile of shit that cd is! People! Tool is nothing! I don't give a shit if they put on an impressive light show at their concerts. Would certainly  agree with Green Day- I listened to them as a kid because everyone else did back then but unlike other bands from my earlier years which I then came to realise were actually a bit rubbish (eg. Linkin Park, Simple Plan) I have no nostalgic feelings for Green Day at all. They bore me immensely.

But I find it hard to beat up on Metallica- I love their new album, and they were the first metal band I ever listened to. I know St. Anger is an awful album but I cannot stop liking them. That's just me though.

LMFAO what a pack of losers! I hate Kings of Leon too, especially that stupid song where the singer mumbles away and the only words I can make out is 'radio' and 'asshole'. And yeah, Metallica is the most overrated metal band in history. Their first 4 albums are awesome, I enjoy the black album too but that's a personal preference, but after that, a big fat MEH. Especially to St Anger! Some people complain about Priests lyrics, to which I say, fuck off, listen to St Anger if you want to hear dumb lyrics 'St Anger round my neck! He never gets respect!' They did do that and it did sell a million, St Anger. They were fucking loud fart noises though.

The most overrated metal band has to be Metallica. Their first five albums were cool, but they haven't released anything decent since 1991. Metallica could put out an album with nothing but fart noises and still sell a million copies.

Overrated bands.....Iron Maiden.Don't get me wrong,I've like Maiden since 1982 when I first heard The Number Of The Beast so I like Iron Maiden, but I think they have too many albums that are of less quality as thier first 5 studio albums from Iron Maiden to Powerslave. The only 3 that are good after Powerslave are Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son,Brave New World and A Matter Of Life And Death. Add one or take one away they still have too many albums that are not that great yet they still get all the hype and attention, you would think that with that much popularity they would have a more albums that are kick ass in thier discography.
