Jazz in the neck position is stock, so you'd have to swap that out, and that would add another $75 to the extra grand you are paying for binding, an OFR, and ebony.

Once I find a reputable luthier, I will inquire of this process. Can`t say I`m familiar with it. PLEK, accronym for something? I guess my lack of knowledge on this one is from using an old school guy for so long, he did everything the hard way, micrometer and crown files!!! But damn he did good work !!

The only difference in construction of the KE2 and KE5 is the binding and fingerboard wood, so that is just a matter of preference. Personally I have really been more into bolt ons lately, so I would go for the KE3 myself. If buget was no issue or someone was giving it to me, I would gladly accept a KE2, though. With Roland Synths and everything, although more or less customized differently compared to the one the seller has. Although you should really set the guitar where it is most comfortable for you, the most common starting point is about where it is when you play sitting. SDB is right on the money with the toothpicks or dowel idea. I suggest using some stuff called "Gorilla Glue" to do te gluing with. It is an expanding type of glue but what ever oozes out of the hole is easily trimmed with a razor.Just be careful with the Gorilla Glue, it loves to get onto your skin. It poses no problem just an annoyance.

That depends on how much material is missing. If the original ones just pulled out, I have heard of people gluing tooth picks in the holes around the outside edge, then installing the new strap buttons, but I have my doubts as to the long term viability.
I would suggest you find a craft or hardware store and pick up a piece of dowel rod slightly larger than the diameter of the hole. Drill out the stripped holes to the same size as the dowel (don't go any deeper than the current hole), then glue the dowels in place. Let the glue dry for 24 hours, then redrill the size hole needed for the new strap buttons. |

That particular guitar is custom all the way. I forget the builders name (JD Higgins or Riggins ?)but it is a very cool guitar. And those inlays look great. I can see his cabinets thru the stairs, always wondered where he had them? many players these days use an isolation booth or face them away from the stage and rely strickly on their monitors to hear what they are playing. very cool indeed!

You know, he also used those JP cross inlays at one time. Maybe they also fell off...

Yea, I knew the KxK `s are inlays, was just thinking of having that caliber of guitar with those stick on position markers, yukk!

The red one is the next best thing to the Gibson Flying V. KK hasn't brought out any of the guitars he used in the BS era for this tour, unfortunately.

Thisn is one of those "make your dad proud" kind of things!! Yesterday while coming home with my boys, I played "Mr.Scary", we got home before the song was over and my 10 year old tells me to wait until it`s over to turn off the car.
After the songs conclusion, he then proceeds to tell me that he wants to learn the song!!!!!

OK, thru multiple e-mails with EMG and multiple attempts at re- eq`ing my seetings, an actual eq (graphic or parametric) inline or a treble booster is what it will take to boost the top end of these EMG`s. Even their other models (model 60) that claim to be bright, probably will not be enough. Perhaps it`s time to go back to Seymour Duncan`s!!!
While the signal strength of the EMG`s is amazing, they are just so much darker than I am accustomed to!! |

The seting for the compressor I used wasfor my Line 6 Pocket POD on a patch I wrote myself using their online editing , I put the compressor at a 14:1 setting .

I don't know what it is, but drenching chorus seems to be what really wakes up the EMG's. I have never tried a compressor, but may have to consider one on G~ Dude's recommendation...

Agree. The best i have ever owned. I have the SH-H2. Seymour Duncans. standard. The EMG 81 is a Hot pickup.( gain Boost).

Yes, the guitar feels amazing. I knew I would love the neck. I briefly had a Import model back in 05 (Fusion HH) . It showed me what these CR necks are all about.
Plus this is the first guitar I have ever had that has the Ebony fingerboard. I prefer the look of the maple fboards, the Ebony sounds great , takes a light touch to ring out the sustain. The EMG`s are stock on the DK-1 like SDB mentioned, atleast on current models. They do have a Soloist model that had Duncans as stock.
