Jazz in the neck position is stock, so you'd have to swap that out, and that would add another $75 to the extra grand you are paying for binding, an OFR, and ebony. Open question here. I have been adjusting my Jackson for lower action and have the strings at 2.5mm between the 12th and 13th frets. With the Jumbo frets that Jackson uses this puts them right on the deck with just a hint of buzz. This still seems high to me and is driving me crazy. I`m thinking that with the height of these frets, maybe I should just get used to it. OR... should I look into a fret leveling job and bring them down a bit??? been checking prices and wow is that pricey. The local shop that has done lot`s of work in the past for me, the owner retired and closed up. So now this has forced me to look elsewhere.
So should I just get used to it? Or look into getting the work done? |

The only difference in construction of the KE2 and KE5 is the binding and fingerboard wood, so that is just a matter of preference. Personally I have really been more into bolt ons lately, so I would go for the KE3 myself. If buget was no issue or someone was giving it to me, I would gladly accept a KE2, though. The JS30KE does absolutely nothing for me, a Kelly should never have dot inlays... [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by Bazooka Joe from Sunday, October 18, 2009 11:28:24 PM)

I saw it. Guy doesn't know what he is talking about. It is NOT the guitar Glenn plays in the vid or in real life as any picture would show. That is an A7. Glenn played his trademark Hamer PhantomGT. Look at the number of pickups. Three on that one for sale...two on Glenn's. Same goes for the knobs. Three on the A7, one on the GT. Even IN the video.
THAT is why his price is going so low....most know better. Freewheel Burnin' screen capture:

That is STILL not a standard issue A7 Hamer. "White lie" aside. He is full of BS. Even on the Turbo album. Had the guy said that Glenn played this model during the Turbo tour, then he would be more precise, although it still wouldn't get him too many bidders since the Turbo album isn't the most popular of Judas Priest's albums. Plus, the Phantom he's selling is in used condition, which may also be the reason why he's selling it at a low price...and you know how rare those Hamer Phantoms are in the market today.

Good evening, guitarists of the Noticeboard. I seek your advice on something. It may be a bit trivial, but bear with me.
My guitar is a Squier, and I love it to death and play it as much as I can. I've been meaning to put on a guitar strap, since my older nephew (the previous owner of said guitar) took it off. I went to the music shop nearby a few days ago and bought the screws and bolts and everything. The problem is that the holes where the screws are supposed to go are too big. It kinda looks as though he pulled them off, or that something's missing. What should I do? Should I partially cover those holes with glue or something and then put in the screws, or what? Any advice is appreciated. |

SDB is right on the money with the toothpicks or dowel idea. I suggest using some stuff called "Gorilla Glue" to do te gluing with. It is an expanding type of glue but what ever oozes out of the hole is easily trimmed with a razor.Just be careful with the Gorilla Glue, it loves to get onto your skin. It poses no problem just an annoyance. If the original ones just pulled out, I have heard of people gluing tooth picks in the holes around the outside edge, then installing the new strap buttons, but I have my doubts as to the long term viability.
I would suggest you find a craft or hardware store and pick up a piece of dowel rod slightly larger than the diameter of the hole. Drill out the stripped holes to the same size as the dowel (don't go any deeper than the current hole), then glue the dowels in place. Let the glue dry for 24 hours, then redrill the size hole needed for the new strap buttons. |

I know, it is difficult to believe that over 25 years later, Randy still garners such a reverence from so many. In that trailer, I think John 5 said it best.
The guy who posted it has posted it elsewhere, but it gets removed almost immediately. Every time he posts it, they threaten to pull the plug on the whole project, but it at least results in a release date delay. Simple fact of the matter is that Peter needs to understand that Randy belongs to all of us now, and it is a posession held in the highest of regards. As soon as I know any further, I will post it... |

That particular guitar is custom all the way. I forget the builders name (JD Higgins or Riggins ?)but it is a very cool guitar. And those inlays look great. I can see his cabinets thru the stairs, always wondered where he had them? many players these days use an isolation booth or face them away from the stage and rely strickly on their monitors to hear what they are playing. very cool indeed! I was shocked , he worlds away from being able to play anything more than three basic chords, right now, but dammit, I`m going to teach him, right after I learn it!!

OK, thru multiple e-mails with EMG and multiple attempts at re- eq`ing my seetings, an actual eq (graphic or parametric) inline or a treble booster is what it will take to boost the top end of these EMG`s. Even their other models (model 60) that claim to be bright, probably will not be enough. Perhaps it`s time to go back to Seymour Duncan`s!!!
While the signal strength of the EMG`s is amazing, they are just so much darker than I am accustomed to!! |

Agree. The best i have ever owned. I have the SH-H2. Seymour Duncans. standard. The EMG 81 is a Hot pickup.( gain Boost). Plus this is the first guitar I have ever had that has the Ebony fingerboard. I prefer the look of the maple fboards, the Ebony sounds great , takes a light touch to ring out the sustain. The EMG`s are stock on the DK-1 like SDB mentioned, atleast on current models. They do have a Soloist model that had Duncans as stock.
I really do love the guitar though, best I have ever owned. And your`s?? | | K2M wrote: | | Doesnt the Jackson Feel Great. I love mine. It was time to step up. Very well madeIt is Linear I can shift with eyes closed.
